Nat Power and I have been longtime collaborators since 2015. We met while studying at the University of Texas at Austin. Throughout the years, Nat and I have shown our work across many cities in Texas as a two-person collective known as Big Chicken and Baby Bird. Since graduating college, I have found success as a full-time professional artist while Nat has become a well-known tattoo artist in Austin. We enjoy swapping new techniques and ideas through our collaboration.
Our collaborative work centers around the experience of shifting between girlhood and womanhood within the ambiguity of gender. Through paintings, sculptures and installations, we create a new mythology by staging fantasies within domesticity, where objects and figures become characters with inevitable roles to play in seduction and repulsion.
