WINDOW TO WINDOW: SOLID WALLS WHEN THEY MISALIGN, 2019
In this body of work, Kam and Power explore how personal identities and fantasy impact intimate relationships. Drawing from aesthetics and imageries from each of their own cultural backgrounds, interests, and queer identity, Kam and Power collaborate by looking outside of their own experiences to reinterpret each of their own origins through the lens of the other. Kam and Power reate metaphors and analogies for intimate relationships by using surrealist imageries and references to mythology, this body of work is a call to attention to humans’ deep desire to feel connected with each other and be understood despite differences.
Window to Window: Solid Walls When They Misalaign was part of Boss Babe ATX’s 2019 Meet Her Hands summer exhibition series featuring women and nonbinary artists in Texas. The exhibition was done in collaboration with the Elisabet Ney Museum in Austin.
The title of the show was inspired by the uneven walls of the exhibition room at the Elisabet Ney Museum, which is the historical residence of German-American sculptor, Elisabet Ney.
